When we look at the modern diet—filled with processed sugars, refined flours, and synthetic additives—it’s no wonder we see a rise in chronic fatigue and inflammatory diseases. We are essentially trying to run a high-performance vehicle on the wrong fuel.
To find the “right” fuel, we must look back to the beginning. A Biblical approach to nutrition focuses on maintaining the delicate internal balance of the body, primarily through what is known as the Acid-Alkaline balance.
1. The Chemistry of Creation
The human body is designed to be slightly alkaline, particularly the blood. However, the standard modern diet is overwhelmingly acidic. When we consume too many acid-forming foods, the body must “borrow” minerals like calcium and magnesium from our bones and organs to neutralize the acid.
Over time, this mineral depletion leads to what we call “dis-ease.” By returning to the foods mentioned in Genesis, we provide the body with the alkaline minerals it needs to maintain its pH without self-sabotaging.
2. The Genesis Diet: Living Foods for Living Cells
In Genesis 1:29, God provides a clear dietary foundation: “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.”
These “living foods”—raw fruits, vegetables, seeds, and nuts—are naturally alkaline-forming. They are packed with enzymes, which are the “spark plugs” of life. Enzymes facilitate every chemical reaction in your body, from digestion to cellular repair. When we cook or process our food excessively, we kill these enzymes, forcing our bodies to work twice as hard for half the nutrition.
3. The 80/20 Rule of Balance
Transitioning to a Biblical diet doesn’t mean you can never have a cooked meal again. It’s about balance. A healthy “Temple” typically thrives on an 80% alkaline and 20% acid ratio.
- Alkaline-Forming (The Foundation): Leafy greens, lemons, wheatgrass, almonds, sprouts, and most fresh fruits.
- Acid-Forming (The Moderation): Grains, legumes, and high-quality proteins.
- Highly Acidic (The Avoidance): Refined sugar, soda, processed meats, and artificial sweeteners.
4. Why pH Matters for Your Spirit
It is difficult to be “sober-minded” and spiritually alert when your body is sluggish and acidic. A high-acid environment in the body is often linked to brain fog, irritability, and physical lethargy. When you shift toward an alkaline, enzyme-rich diet, you aren’t just losing weight; you are clearing the “static” from your physical vessel, making it easier to focus on prayer and your calling.
Take the First Bite Toward Healing
Reclaiming your health starts with one meal at a time. By honoring the dietary laws established by the Creator, you stop fighting against your biology and start working with it.
If you’re ready to learn how to practicalize this—including food combining, enzyme therapy, and specific Biblical “superfoods”—the Holistic Health Handbook is your perfect starting point.
